Redundancy Pay £350.00 As of 1 Feb 2009. The maximum statutory pay for a week for redundancy is £350.00 or a normal week’s gross pay, whichever is the lower.
National Minimum Wage As of 1 Oct 2009 is as follows:
- 22 and over £5.80 .
- 18-21 year olds £4.83 .
- £ 3.57 for 16 & 17 year olds who are above compulsory school leaving age
Please note 16 and 17 year old apprentices are exempt from the new statutory young workers rate.
Funding of SMP/SPP/SAP As of 1st April 2008. All employers are entitled to recover 92% of the SMP/SPP/SAP they pay. If you qualify for Small Employer’s Relief you are entitled to recover 104.5% of the SMP/SPP/SAP you pay. The Small Employer’s Relief Threshold is £45,000 for payments made on or after 1 April 2007.
Statutory Sick Pay (SSP) is £75.40 As of 6 April 2008. For employees with average weekly earnings of £84.00 or more the SSP rate is £70.05. Note: You can get back any SSP that you have paid over and above 13% of your National Insurance Contributions liability for the same tax month in which you have paid SSP.
Statutory Maternity Pay (SMP) As of 6th April 2008. Employees expecting a baby on or after 1st April 2007 who satisfy the qualifying conditions are entitled to a maximum of 39 weeks SMP. These include having average weekly earnings of:
- £87 if their baby is due on or after 1 April 2007
- £90 if their baby is due on or after 20th July 2008
The weekly rate is:
First 6 weeks of payment 90% of employee’s average weekly earnings. Remaining 33 weeks pay the lesser of:
- 90% of employee’s average weekly earnings, or
- £117.18
Statutory Paternity Pay (SPP) As of 6th April 2008. SPP is paid for a maximum of 2 weeks to employees who satisfy the qualifying conditions. These include having weekly earnings of:
- £87 if their baby is due on or after 1st April 2007, or if they are notified that they have been matched with a child or received official notification that they are eligible to adopt a child from abroad on or before 1st April 2007
- £90 if their baby is due or they have been notified of a match or eligibility on or after 20th July 2008
Statutory Adoption Pay (SAP) As of 6th April 2008. Employees who are adopting a child and are notified that they have been matched with a child or received official notification that they are eligible to adopt a child from abroad on or before 1 April 2007, and who satisfy the qualifying conditions, are entitled to a maximum of 39 weeks SAP.
These include having weekly earnings of:
- £87 if their baby is due on or after 1st April 2007, or if they are notified that they have been matched with a child or received official notification that they are eligible to adopt a child from abroad on or after 1st April 2007
- £90 if their baby is due and they have been notified of a match or eligibility on or after 20th July 2008.
