Feedback Using
HR Software Products
Each year, more and more companies are finding that employee feedback is a great way to improve business processes at the company. Employees are generally more in tune with the health of the company than the upper management of the company and allowing these employees to discuss any issues or problems that they see occurring in the company can help to solve the problems before they become larger issues. There are a number of different HR software products that have been created in recent years to allow employees to provide feedback to their company HR department on issues that matter to them.
The number of HR software products on the market has dramatically increased in recent years as many companies became aware of the benefits of using the software products to streamline their routine business practices. Software products that are used by employees to provide feedback to their managers or to the HR department of their company are no exception. It has been estimated that the number of companies using HR software to obtain feedback from their employees has more than tripled in the last few years.
Obtaining feedback from employees on the issues affecting the company is important for a number of reasons. Aside from pinpointing process issues early, employee feedback can also let the HR department know how the employees feel about items that affect their job satisfaction, such as the benefits that they are offered and the company’s policy on sick and vacation leave. By identifying the areas where many employees are having issues, the company will be able to fine tune these processes and improve employee satisfaction.
Allowing the employees to provide feedback using HR software also allows the HR department to identify potential problem employees and managers before they can do something to harm the reputation of the company. Many companies allow employees to report serious violations of company policy, such as theft, harassment, or fraud, anonymously and most employees are more comfortable submitting the information via the HR software program than having to talk to the HR personnel in person. The HR department then can investigate the claims made by the employee for validity and take any actions that are needed to correct the situation.
The ability to provide feedback to the HR department anonymously using HR software is very important to many employees that fear retribution or the loss of their job if they are known to disclose information that their immediate superiors may not want disclosed. A workforce controlled with intimidation and fear is not nearly as productive as a workforce that enjoys their jobs, but upper management in the company will often be unaware that instances of intimidation or other detrimental actions are taking place unless an employee that is experiencing the problem makes someone aware that the problem is occurring.
Allowing the employees report problems and issues anonymously using a software program makes the employees feel more at ease about disclosing issues that are occurring in the workplace. Some software programs go as far as assigning each incoming inquiry a unique number so that HR personnel does not have the name of the individual that started the inquiry, but the person can be contacted at a later date if the department finds something that makes it necessary to talk to the individual further or if their testimony is needed for a legal case. Other than these two exceptions, generally the inquiries can be carried out and any corrective actions undertaken without having to involve the person that brought the issue to the attention of the HR department.
