Lifelong Learning UK is a Sector Skills Council (one of 25 in the UK), responsible for supporting the lifelong learning workforce by: developing and raising standards; providing labour market intelligence; engaging employers; and delivering innovative projects. We currently have 170 employees.

HR Challenge

Prior to purchasing Simply Personnel, we worked largely with a paper based system. A decision was made to investigate the different HR software packages on the market. Our aim was to find a workable user friendly HR system which had all the functionality we required. In addition it had to offer value for money and be flexible enough to be adapted to the particular needs of our organisation. We needed to be move away from the paper based system to a system which centralised our personnel records, recruiting and training, so that we could track and manage our employees from the moment they applied for a vacancy and to manage their training needs. It was very important to us that the HR system could run reports which we needed for our business for example reports on Diversity.

Solution

We purchased Simply Personnel, personnel manager, training manager, recruitment manager and self service because it did everything we wanted at a fraction of the price of some of the other HR systems on the market and could be adapted to our particular needs. This has made our day to day management so much easier as it has streamlined all our information which is now centralised. This means we can look up quickly the information we need, the self service element also allows line manager's to better manage annual leave and absence..

Benefits


Personnel manager has minimised the paper and centralised all our records. It allows us to run reports such as Equality & Diversity, Recruitment, Training, which are very important to our business.

The Recruitment module allows us to track applicants from the moment they apply for a vacancy and we can monitor their progress throughout the whole process.

The Training module will reduce administration time as all the information on training schedules will be centralised, we can plan training schedules and view employees schedules so that disruption for the company is minimised. In addition it allows us to keep a record of training for auditing purposes highlighting any gaps, which in turn raises employee's morale and performance by identifying training needs.
