United Christian Broadcasters Ltd (UCB) is the largest Christian media company in the United Kingdom. It is involved in many ventures, has 5 radio stations, a television station, and a logistics department, runs a fleet of vehicles, a call centre and is also an accredited training centre.HR Challenge
UCB has in excess of 125 employees and more than 170 volunteers whose services UCB values. UCB were using HR software of another major player in the HR market, whose software UCB found unnecessarily complex and not user friendly.The main reason for transferring to Simply Personnel was not just the cost, which was very competitive, but because of the simplicity of the software in that complex provisions have a simple process.
UCB wanted a HR system which UCB controlled and not one which controlled the way UCB carried out its business. "We did not want a system that just collected data; we wanted a centralised reliable HR system which had to be proactive to our needs".
Solution
UCB felt that the solution was to implement Simply Personnel, with the training, recruitment and self service modules.
One of the requirements UCB had was that UCB wanted to run two systems side by side one for UCB employees and one for UCB volunteers so that they could keep data on the volunteers who are an important part of the organisation in the same way that data is kept for the UCB employees.

Administration has been minimised as all information is centralised and easy to access and maintain. The traffic light system is great and alerts the employer on outstanding tasks and makes life easier
The system is very user friendly and easy to operate. Disruption to the business is minimised when staff leave and there are new joiners in that new joiners can very quickly be trained on Simply Personnel.
The recruitment module is fantastic and has streamlined the recruiting process, being able to send mail merge documents easily, with a record of when it was done is very beneficial. It is easy for member of the HR department at UCB to look up all applicants at one time and in one place to make sure that all of the relevant processes have been done.
The training module identifies training needs, improves personal development and centralises all the information on costs, schedules and courses.
